Bringing Change to another Community

The West Manheim Township Parks and Recreation Board has made a commitment to developing an amazing accessible park, starting with a beautiful pavilion including accessible picnic tables and working toward an accessible and inclusive playground for children of all abilities. The park will also include trails for walking or biking, a skate park, volleyball, horseshoes, baseball fields, a dog park and more. Because the Board has been so passionate about developing the park and ensuring that it is accessible to individuals of all abilities, Hailey’s Wish has decided to support them in their efforts. Specifically, Hailey’s Wish will support the park by assisting with fundraising and design for an accessible and inclusive playground. As always, our goal is to ensure that there are activities for children of all abilities and a design that encourages interaction among all children without regard to physical ability. 

West Manheim Township, PA is located approximately 7 miles north of the intersection of routes 30 and 27 in Manchester, MD and approximately 5 miles south of Hanover, PA. The park is absolutely beautiful and has an amazing view. In addition to everyday fun for family and friends, it would be a wonderful place to host a birthday party or a family reunion and with it’s accessible design there would be activities for everyone.

Hailey’s Wish and the West Manheim Township Parks and Recreation Board will be hosting fundraising events to support the project. Dreams do Come True!

We are already working on our next project goals and we can wait to share more details soon!

A year ago, we created the vision board above to share our dream of bringing a sensory trail to life—complete with musical instruments, interactive sensory panels, and accessible raised garden beds. Thanks to the incredible generosity and support of our community, that dream is becoming a reality. We have now secured all of the elements needed to create the sensory trail.

 

Even more exciting, our original vision has grown beyond what we imagined. Through the generous support of a grant, we now have the opportunity to create a dedicated sensory garden in addition to the sensory trail, transforming our initial dream into an even more engaging, inclusive, and meaningful experience for visitors of all abilities. 

Hailey's Wish is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization established as a fund of the Community Foundation of Carroll County.
